What Safeguarding Means at TSI
Safeguarding at TSI includes, but is not limited to:
- Protecting children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation
- Ensuring safe recruitment and professional conduct of staff
- Providing a safe physical and emotional school environment
- Supporting children’s wellbeing, mental health, and resilience
- Teaching children how to stay safe and speak up
Safeguarding is embedded into daily school life, policies, staff training, and curriculum planning.
Working at TSI International School:
TSI has a clear safeguarding structure within our two primary schools and our secondary school to ensure accountability and effective action.
- A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) oversees safeguarding across the school
- Deputy Safeguarding Leads support this work across campuses and phases
- All staff receive regular safeguarding training and updates
- Safeguarding responsibilities are clearly defined and monitored
Safer Recruitment and Staff Conduct
TSI follows robust safer recruitment practices to ensure that all adults working with children are suitable and properly vetted.
This includes:
- Background and reference checks
- Criminal record checks
- Verification of qualifications and employment history
- Ongoing professional conduct expectations
All staff are required to adhere to a clear Code of Conduct, which sets out appropriate professional boundaries and behaviour at all times.
Listening to and Supporting Students
Children at TSI are encouraged to:
- Speak to a trusted adult if they feel worried or unsafe
- Share concerns about themselves or others
- Know that they will be listened to and taken seriously
We aim to create a culture where children feel confident to ask for help and understand that safeguarding is about care, not punishment.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately.
Concerns can be raised by:
- Students
- Parents or guardians
- Staff members
- Visitors to the school
Reports will be handled confidentially and in line with our safeguarding procedures. Where necessary, concerns may be referred to external agencies to ensure the safety of the child.
