Key Stage 3
Students in Years 7 – Year 9 are collectively referred to as Key Stage 3 (KS3). During KS3, students follow a course of study which provides a broad and balanced range of learning experiences based on the UK National Curriculum but modified for our school’s location, cultural context and values.
Our innovative Key Stage 3 programme caters for the Seven Developmental Needs of the Early Adolescent - Physical Activity, Competence and Achievement, Self-Definition, Creative Expression, Positive Social Interactions, Structure and Meaningful Participation. It is designed to complement and work with, not against, the distinct cognitive profile of younger teenagers in Years 7-9. Students are supported in the acquisition and development of a range of higher order thinking skills - analysis, evaluation and innovation during lessons for each subject.
In Years 7 and 8, our Connected Learning Programme (CLP) develops foundational skills and knowledge to set young teenagers up in the best way possible for academic success in Year 9 and beyond.
In Year 9, students are prepared for IGCSE pathways, moving to different teachers for each core subject, including specialist Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.
