Early Years (Nursery & Reception)
According to the British National Curriculum, children in Nursery (K1) and Reception (K2) are collectively known as the Foundation Stage.
At our school, Nursery and Reception classes learn in the TSIS Early Years’ Centre which is on the first floor of the Junior School building. This area, which is used by our ‘Early Years’ children only, includes classrooms, an activity room, library and nap room. The Early Years Centre offers an exciting and nurturing environment for our youngest learners.
Generally, children should be 3 years old before entering our Nursery class, although we will consider slightly younger students if teachers and parents feel that they are ready.
Curriculum and Learning Matters
Our Early Years’ children spend the majority of the week with their western homeroom teacher. Homeroom teachers are committed to preparing activities based on the TSIS conceptual framework combined with the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) attainment targets. The teachers create situations for children to explore and learn through play and by using their imaginations. During their time as Early Years students, children are encouraged to develop a strong foundation to become independent, life-long learners with a Reggio Emilio inspired approach to teaching and learning.
All Early Years children also learn Thai Language and Culture and PE/Swimming with specialist teachers.
